Virgin Galactic’s First Flight Towards Space Reaches New Milestone


Virgin Galatic, a company owned by Sir Richard Branson, recent did a test flight to space on December 13th reaching an altitude of 51.4 miles. This surpassed the 50-mile altitude used by the U.S. Air Force for awarding astronaut wings. They did this first flight with two test pilots. Branson has made it known that he wants to be on the second flight towards space and estimates that it will take place within six months. Virgin Galactic plans to move its operation to New Mexico and do a few more similar tests before sending Branson up 50 miles above the earth.
